Deborah didn’t live in my dorm my freshman year, but that didn’t stop us from becoming the most dynamic Asian and Mexican duo ever. After our first hilarious meeting (which involved her pretending to be pregnant and me thinking she was on heroin) she never thought I would actually call her for lunch. Well I did, and three bajillion bubble teas later, we are still closer than ever.
So when she asked me if I could take her engagement pictures with Justin (who falls into my super nice and funny category) I agreed in an instant. I COULD write about how they both met and fell in love and blah blah blah, but who wants to read that? Well, I am sure a lot of you do, but I am still not going to write it. These two just click; not only are they perhaps the most animated couple I know, but they make each other laugh a lot and are just a blast to hang around with. One of my funnest nights in my life was a night with these two in Hong Kong (from what I remember anyway).
Again, as with most of my closest friends, I have had the amazing opportunity to travel with them, share stories with them and see their relationship blossom into something special (even if it takes a little kung-fu).
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for these two (a rarity in gloomy Seattle).
I can’t wait for their wedding and the cute little half asian babies they will have in the future.
Congrats Deborah and Justin!!!!!
There are no words.
I am so happy. So So So So Happy.
Congrats you two!
Must. Not. Cry.
(yes, I am this happy even though lots of us thought you were technically engaged)
If you are going to die from volcanic eruptions, then you might as well die happy right?
It is just the way it is. When you backpack through a country, you meet some amazing new friends. By the way, Imperial beer can get old really really quickly.
When Cynthia screams, Monkeys hide in fear. No joke.
Our hostel in La Fortuna was one of the best that I have ever stayed it. Arenal Backpackers. I couldn’t recommend it more since I could have stayed there the whole week I was in Costa Rica.
I pretended I was going to hitch a ride to the beach, but it backfired when two cars pulled over thinking I was being serious. Whoops.
Our second hostel had an AMAZING view. I will post pictures of that later, but it also had its own kitchen and living room. It was pretty sweet. Cynthia and I cooked the first night and the second night we had around six people over (fellow travelers) for a huge dinner and wine. It was fantastic.
Not as good as home, but it will do.
Public bus riding.
Cynthia’s first taste of dorm living. It was so incredibly hot during the day, but at night the air conditioner would make the hoste FRIGID. Its a wonder none of us got sick.
Since we are not millionaires, none of us were really able to go to Tfaith and Cornel’s wedding down in South Africa. So of course Tfaith and his family decided that a Seattle reception was in order. This being the main reason I went to Seattle in the first place. I was still the only one to visit them in South Africa, so I win the most awesome friend award just for that alone.
It was such a great weekend because I got to see and hang out with my friends that I consider more like brothers.
College would have sucked without these guys.
Omid was finally able to do a keg stand that lasted for more than 3 seconds. (the tap was broken)
Omid and I have great taste in shoes.
The food was fantastic
South African BFF!!!
I like this picture because Tfaith and Cornel are being completely inappropriate.
Cornel: I am so excited!! Its a BBQ cooking set!!!!
Us: Do you even have a BBQ grill in DC?
I am so backed up on blogging that it really isn’t funny, but oh well, I really have nothing to complain about. Its been a hectic couple of weeks, but a really good couple of weeks. I probably won’t be able to backlog much due to the massive upcoming trip I am going on, but maybe a couple here and there should do. The picture above is from our second hotel on our road trip up from San Francisco. It actually made really really good waffles. Me Like.
I’m thinking I might not post all the road trip pictures since I am lacking on time. That means no embarrassing road trip pictures like this one:
What is Katherine doing in the picture? Who knows.
Its official. Road trips with good friends is one of the greatest things ever. Also, before you get your panties in a bunch, the driver never EVER drank while driving. Also, the minorities were never allowed behind the wheel, which did not bother me at all.
This was one of the stops on our road trip from San Francisco to Seattle. It is absolutely stunning. STUNNING. Lots of other words can describe it, but I will just use that one. We woke up a bit hungover/cranky in the morning and after probably the most awkward breakfast of all time with the most awkward waitress ever, we headed up to the viewpoint.
Me: Isn’t it JUNE?!
Couldn’t help but notice that the snow on the road towered over our car. I almost cried.
Also, this was the first time I ever stayed in an A team or whatever they are called cabin. They are crazy! And awesome.
