I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest tree
I had a dream
Enjoy this amazing song my Priscilla Ahn on Mother’s Day. MY post to my Mom will be tomorrow when Mexico has their Mother’s Day.
Its been a great detox weekend. Well, having lots of beers is detoxing right?
I actually cooked something and we were all able to eat it (without gagging). Calabasitas, which is quite possibly my favorite side dish of all time, especially when you melt the cheese on top. It is Boomtown, as the lovely Kendra would say. I got the recipe from Evelia Childs herself. It was delicious, although there were some changes and spices here and there that should be added. With my Tostadas and now this I can make one complete Mexican meal! Next goal? To conquer the world.
Only a select few will understand.
It was a gorgeous night, to celebrate the dead.
A day where you honor the dead, but also celebrate being alive. Younger, I remember the small celebrations that would take place on the Day of the Dead in Nogales, Sonora, but that is nothing compared to how they celebrate it in San Francisco. While the holiday was a hybrid of European and Aztec philosophies, it maintains a native indigenous feel. I mostly remember the Pan De Muerto being DELICIOUS. Anyway, about 15,000 people were expected to show up to this celebration. While that fact alone is impressive, what impressed me the most was that people from all origins had gathered together to celebrate a part of my culture.
It was amazing.
I. Love. San Francisco.
I took SO many pictures and it was hard to choose, but my favorite pictures are after the link. Also my Flickr account has the whole gallery.
Its basically a video of us drinking.
Best quote before golfing:
Manny: (standing up) Well, I might as well go throw up now instead of later on the golf course.
Hangover golfing with gators is fun .
The sixth day we lost Oscar and Joe, but that did not deter us from having quite possibly another rager that beat the one we had on the 4th day. Let’s just say that we took advantage of the various 2 for 1 specials that the downtown PV bars had.
It hurt to breathe.
Of course, more pictures after the jump.
