Requiem for a Mexican/Jewish Combined Wedding

Even though it was labor day weekend, it definitely seemed like I was working this whole weekend.
I left early on Friday to catch a cab to the airport thinking that labor day weekend traffic would be really crappy that day.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that Sea-Tac was not the hustle and bustle one would expect on a weekend full of travel. Checking in went smoothly, the security check was quick and painless, and the bagel I bought was oddly more satisfying than it should have been.

I bought Anderson Cooper’s Dispatches from the Edge which made me desperately want to be a globetrotting reporter, putting my life on the line in order report and write about extraordinary events. His experiences in war torn Iraq, malnourished Somalia, Deadly Rwanda, tsunami hit Sri Lanka, to New Orleans post Katrina kept me flipping the pages the entire flight. While many could see the book as self-involved I personally would recommend this book to anyone.

I arrived home, stayed up late with my sister watching youtube videos and plopped into bed really late.
The next morning, it began.
It is really hard to explain all the situations, emotions, thoughts, surprises, bonding, awkwardness, relief, tension, crying and laughter that can come with a Mexican wedding. Plus, it was also a Jewish wedding so lets add a Kallah and Bedecken to those adjectives. So instead of writing a long and detailed description of the wedding I am just going to ask you to watch the following video.

(You can easily replace dance with DRINK here)

The after party on Sunday was held at my house (of course) and everything was going smoothly. There was good food, good people, great gossip from the night before, and awesome weather. Then everything came crashing down when I found out that someone went into my room and stole something that is precious to me. My Ipod.
I.Was.So.Angry.
If I ever find out who did it (which I doubt I will), the only words that come to my mind are “Beware My Fury”.
Not only did I have to go and buy another one, since I honestly can’t live without it, I learned from an Apple Store Employee that Apple is announcing a new version coming out tomorrow. Just thinking that I had to spend another 300 dollars of money that I don’t have right now (due to moving) made me angry enough to bite my lip my right now and make it bleed. I find it really sad you invite people into your own home, present to them good food and a good time, yet they will still feel the need to violate you like that. If I had lost the Ipod or broken it myself, then I wouldn’t be angry at all. It happens….but so do things like this I guess. I still have the first MP3 player my dad gave me seven years ago. Heck, I still have the first digital camera I got as a graduation gift. I still have my first Ipod (with personal inscription) and all the ones I acquired after that for some reason or another, except for one now.

Even so, it was great to go home and see family. My sister is growing up alarmingly fast as she looked a lot older from the last time I saw her, which was only a couple of weeks ago. My parents are still as strong as ever and handle all the family drama better than anyone. It was great to bond with cousins that I really haven’t been close to before even while growing up in the same town for 18 years. Carne Asadas are always an excellent treat. The weather did make me want to kill myself at times, but it made me miss those monsoons so much.

And finally, some photographic evidence.

Getting ready is never easy.

This is how Nancy irons, with a hair curler.

It was hard growing up for all of us in this picture because we are all so ridiculously good looking.

IMG_3781
Eddie and I are the only normal ones here.

IMG_3782
No we aren’t in line for the bar, it was for the buffet. Honest.

IMG_3784
Arlene was the Maid of Honor…which is probably why she was seen mostly near the bar. She had the best speech out of all of them though.

IMG_3786
Nancy is bring sexy back to a whole new level.

IMG_3791
“You have the goofiest smile” she said so I took her word on it.

IMG_3798
No words necessary for this one.

She looks younger than me. I am going to stop saying she is my Aunt. Damn you Mar and your youthfullness.

IMG_3795
Eddie and Libby. Have you noticed that most of these pictures are coming from the bar area? Interesting.

IMG_3802
Viviana, Libby, and Yvonne. They all looked great that night, but not as good as me.

IMG_3800
I wonder if both Eddies even remember taking this picture. I bet they don’t.

IMG_3805
I am so proud! I mean CYNTHIA WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! (the picture is posed for those of you judging)

IMG_3806
Probably the last picture before Suzette saw darkness.

These are the only good pics I have of that night. If any of you have anymore, feel free to e-mail them to me and I MIGHT post them up.
Its now 1:30 in the morning. I have to work early. Son.Of.A.Bitch.
Good Night.

This web site definitely has all the info I needed
about this subject and didn’t know who to ask.

  3. Hello there! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering which
blog platform are you using for this site? I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
