Being a monkey in the largest street in the world (apparently). It takes approximately 3 million minutes to cross from one side to the other. That is, if cars don’t hit you on the way across of course. Cynthia has become an expert at crossing the street. Meanwhile, you would think that after surviving crossing the streets in China and Southeast Asia, this would be a cakewalk. Yeah, not so much.

At least there are spots where you can cartwheel.

New Orleans Cartwheel

Just drove into Tucson a couple of hours ago from our Epic Southern Road Trip.
I am completely exhausted.
I think I am so tired that I can’t sleep.

Atlanta = Awesome
New Orleans = Awesome
Houston/Omidpalooza = Awesome
San Antonio = Surprisingly Awesome
Drive from San Antonio to Tucson = Too Fucking Long.

Of course lots of pictures to come.
For now, I guess I will go collapse.

Here are some random photos from our first couple of days in Bangkok.

I have updated the other blog with the “fancy” photos.

Bangkok Cartwheel.jpg
The Bangkok Cartwheel of course. I think this is at Wat Pho.

Stealing motorbikes.

Interest in The White Folk
The Asians took an interest in the white folk I travel with.

This is how sexy I looked when I traveled.

Shanghai Cartwheel
The Bund is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Shanghai. It is pretty incredible because of the two styles of architecture you can see from the waterfront. On one side you have buildings that have architecture that ranges from Roman, Neo-Classical to Gothic looking. On the other side, across the river you have the new modern architecture in an area called Pudong that Shanghai is becoming famous for. The Bund is also closer to Nanjing Road, which is considered one of the world’s busiest shopping streets (you will see our shopping adventures later).

Shanghai Skyline
We were wondering why everyone hates the Oriental Pearl Tower (the one with the two ball looking things) since we didn’t think it looked that bad during the day. Then we saw it at night. With the lights on it looks like a Christmas tree ornament.

Bank - The Bund
It seriously is cool how you have these renaissance looking buildings on one side and Christmas tree ornament looking ones on the other side of the river.

Jellyfish??
Eating things that scare me to death (due to them stinging me seven times once). Jellyfish.

Justin Likes the Gloves
Justin doesn’t like to get dirty.

Hung Likes The Meat
Finally the man himself, Shih-Hung. Deborah’s brother (whose wedding was the main reason we took the trip to China).

Pam Bites The Meat
This is Frank and Pam. Frank is Shih-Hung’s best man and Pam is Frank’s friend from their Dartmouth days. Both Hilarious.

Fried Banana Dessert
These were friend bananas. After eating one, I punched everyone at the table so I could eat theirs. So. Good.

Forbidden City Cartwheeling
The Forbidden City is one of those places that make you say “Holy !@#$%” as soon as you enter because its so breathtakingly beautiful. Ironically, I had the same reaction when I first entered my dormitory bathroom, but definitely not because of beauty. The city within the city is so massive that it could make any inhabitant within The Vatican City say “Fuck This Shit” if they were forced to walk from one side to the other. I made the idiotic mistake of wearing sandals to the city, giving me blisters that would plague me for the next couple of days. You can look at more pictures of the city after the jump/more link, but if you want to see ALL of them that I uploaded, I suggest you go to my Forbidden City Flickr Set.
